ST. JOHN'S, N.L.: A condominium under construction in St. John's, N.L., has partially collapsed.

Capt. Larry Power of the St. John's Regional Fire Department says a portion of the Logy Bay Road complex fell down earlier today and other parts of the site are close to collapse.

Officials are asking the public to stay behind barriers erected near the site.

Tom Beckett of Remax Realty says the situation could have been a lot worse had it not been a holiday and workers were on the job.

Beckett says the condominium was slated to open at the end of summer or early fall.

He says there were about 16 units and a number of them were already pre-sold.
