REGINA: Canada's three Western premiers are taking a road trip to Asia to promote their new partnership. Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach and British Columbia's Gordon Campbell are heading to Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo. Wall says the trade mission will focus on promoting Western Canada's technology and natural resources. He hints that the three provinces may set up a trade office in China together to better leverage the Western Canadian brand. Campbell said in a news release that the recent economic downturn has proven that the provinces are stronger if they work together. It's the first trade mission for the premiers since they signed a partnership agreement earlier month that they say will create an economic powerhouse in Canada.
